Erik's last day of swimming lessons was Thursday. Veteran's Memorial Pool also has a splash pool and waterslides. As a reward for finishing lessons, the kids got to go down the slide once. They went with a teacher. Erik was excited to go when we got there, but I was worried he might get scared when they actually got to the top and it was time to come down. Luckily, they put on life jackets, so we wouldn't have a repeat of his Seven Peaks experience. (He went down the white tube slide with me, but we flipped when we got to the pool at the bottom and he went under, despite my best efforts to hold him up. I lost my footing too, so that didn't help either. He wouldn't go down the slide with me anymore after that, but who can blame him.) He ended up having a blast, and kept telling me he went down the fast slide! You can't tell in the above picture, but he is smiling. Lily kept telling me, excitedly, that the white one (the waterslide) was open and that she wanted to go down. I tried explaining, to no avail, that she couldn't go down today because she wasn't in swimming lessons. She did like watching Erik come out though.
After lessons were over, Lily wanted me to take her picture too, so here are Erik and Lily outside the pool. Notice Lily's not-so-happy expression. She was still upset about not getting a turn going down the slide. Her consolation "prize": holding Erik's blue evaluation paper. It wasn't much, but it was enough to make her happy. I guess next year both of them will get to be in swimming lessons, especially because Lily will be 3 and can be in a class without me! Good job Erik! We're proud of you.

Fun summer days! My kids beg me every day to let them go swimming. Although Jeniffer's little pool that she sets up at G-ma and pa's house is just as fun as the big pool! (For the adults, too :))
