Erik was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Saturday, January 14, 2012 by his dad. For those of you who don't know, in our church children are baptized at 8 so they can be accountable for the choices they make. We teach them to try to follow Christ's example, be kind to others, serve and keep the commandments. As members of the church we are to choose the right, be like Christ and follow His teachings. Infants and young children can't do that on their own and be held accountable for their choices, so we wait until at least 8 years old to formally become a member of the church.
My mom and dad were able to be here for a week to visit and Teresa and Corbin flew in for the weekend so they could help us celebrate this special occasion as well. My parents gave short talks on what it means to be baptized and how to follow the Holy Ghost. Those who helped us support Erik were: our family, Dub and Grandma Dub, Teresa, Corbin, Debby, Great Grandpa Walker (my dad's dad), Emily, Tristan, Carson, Sister Wilson, Sister Olson, Sister Hamilton, Mrs. Kaiser, Sister Ericson, the Kloosterbooers and Brother Branch. It was a beautiful event and we are so proud of Erik for making this choice. We hope he will always try to choose the right and be a good example for his younger brothers and sister. Thanks to everyone who was able to be here. We missed those family members who weren't able to be here, but know you are all as proud of Erik as we are.

This was just a cute picture of Drew and the other kids. I think this was probably his first day of primary. He was so excited to wear a tie like Erik.
