Christmas Lights in Denver

OK, so if you don't know what this is a picture of, it's a screaming banshee. You may be wondering what this has to do with seeing Christmas lights in Denver. Friday night we decided to drive down to Denver to see some of the light displays downtown. We've only been into downtown Denver two other times, so we aren't really familiar with the area. We got directions to some of the different locations online and set out. This was after going shopping, so Drew hadn't had his afternoon nap. We figured he'd sleep at least the 25 minutes it takes to drive into Denver. We left close to 6:00, but we still hit some rush hour traffic. There was also an Avalanche game, not to mention other events we didn't even know about. Drew decided he didn't want to go to sleep. Not only did he not want to sleep, he decided he didn't want to be in the car. He SCREAMED like a banshee the entire drive, as well as most of the time we spent driving around downtown! A screaming child is enough to drive you insane in the car, but it's even worse when you are in an unfamiliar place and trying to figure out where to go. We were all out of patience, including Erik. Lily somehow managed to sleep during most of the shrieking! Drew also screamed part of the way home, but finally fell asleep after awhile. Needless to say, we didn't see all the lights we had planned to see. We did manage to see the City/County Building, which has one of the biggest displays in the U.S. It was pretty cool. We couldn't find anywhere to park though, so we couldn't get out to walk around. Erik and Lily thought it was neat though. The picture is below.

Denver City/County Building Christmas light display. Pretty cool! We didn't get to see more because there are so many one way streets in Denver that it was difficult to maneuver through the crowded streets, especially when you can't hear yourself think.

We probably won't be heading into Denver much, unless we make sure to go right after Drew wakes up. Or maybe I'll just wear headphones next time......
